Questions need: Answers.

The Franziskustreff Foundation was established by the German Capuchin Province as a foundation under civil law. It is therefore not a church organisation. However, it is characterised by Christian values and stems from the Franciscan tradition.

The Franziskustreff has been opening its doors for more than 30 years. Since day one, the help for homeless and poor people has been financed exclusively from donations - independently of the church and state. This is how the foundation maintains its independence. This makes it possible to help quickly and individually. In addition, we want to realise the basic Franciscan attitude: to welcome every guest.

The Franziskustreff offers homeless and poor people in the city centre of Frankfurt am Main a hearty breakfast and social counselling. The centre in the Capuchin monastery at the Liebfrauenkirche is part of the Franziskustreff Foundation. It was founded by the German Capuchin Province. This happened after the death of the founder, Brother Wendelin Gerigk (died 2010).
He opened the Franziskustreff more than thirty years ago. To this day, the meeting place is a reliable point of contact for homeless and poor people. Brother Wendelin's "friends from the street" were allowed to eat and rest. In the everyday life of the meeting place, he learnt about the hardships and difficulties that people living on the streets and in poverty face. "When God sends us the poor, he also takes care of them," he said. And later expanded the service further: social counselling was created. The Franziskustreff Foundation is perpetuating Brother Wendelin's work. It continues it with legal certainty and develops it further. As from the beginning, without state or church funds: only through donations from the population.

On Christian holidays - such as Christmas, Easter, Ascension Day or Whitsun - homeless and poor people have breakfast in a special atmosphere at the Franziskustreff. On major church holidays, the range of food on offer is extended. For example, eggs and ham are served at Easter and gingerbread at Christmas.

You can also help us if you bring food to the Franziskustreff that we need for breakfast. You can find out what we can use here. Donations in kind can be dropped off directly in the breakfast room from Monday to Saturday between 6.30 am and 12.00 pm. We kindly ask you to make an appointment in advance with the housekeeping department by calling
