Everything I do good is also good for me
Compassion is one of the strongest human abilities.
It is a blessing for those who receive it and for those who give it. The hospitality of the Franziskustreff for homeless and poor people thrives on this. The open door to the guest room, the breakfast served by volunteers in the square, the invitation to take advantage of personal social counselling: All of this is made possible by private individuals. People who want to meaningfully share the good things that have happened to them in their own lives.
They donate personally to this programme. Or they initiate a one-off or regular collection among their company's employees in favour of the homeless shelter on the occasion of birthdays or work anniversaries. Or they can bring up the subject of a company donation with the company management.
Spreading the word about the offer of compassion at the Franziskustreff in this way encourages compassion among friends and colleagues. People suddenly talk about neediness, fates that have thrown them off course, the experience of a hand being held out. This is how individuals, work teams and companies learn: Anything that does good is good for me too.
In this video, you can accompany Mrs Kostinek, benefactor of the Franziskustreff, on her journey through Frankfurt.
Allow the thoughts she expresses to sink in. Share this video. Watch it together with others. Talk about it. Also about how you can do or do good. We know that this is associated with a certain shyness in our society. Give it a try.
