The chocolate heart

Reinhild Fassler has also been with us for many years.

The beautiful art of singing characterises the Austrian-born singer's life. She graduated from the Salzburg Mozarteum at the age of 25 and spent many years on the big stages as an opera singer. She later taught her art to people as a singing teacher.

But there was always room for something else: an active humanity that stems from deep faith. This is how Reinhild Fassler has been organising aid campaigns in her adopted home of Hesse for more than 25 years now. These are so extensive, large, personal and continuous that she has even been honoured for them.

For a long time, she was involved in Frankfurt's homeless aid organisations and eventually came into contact with the Franziskustreff.

The sudden loss of her husband made her realise how quickly life can take a turn for the worse. This terrible experience encourages her to live charity directly and with an open heart where it is most urgently needed: with homeless and poor people.

Several times a year, she calls for fundraising campaigns in favour of homeless and poor people in press articles. With rousing energy, she collects chocolate Easter and Christmas donations as well as coffee, fruit, Christmas stollen and Easter bread - often up to 1oo pieces and more - for breakfast. Reinhild Fassler brings the gifts of many people from Königstein and the surrounding area to Frankfurt - directly to the Franziskustreff.

Brother Michael: "Her name is really well known in the region. She has already received the Order of Merit of the Federal Republic of Germany for her dedicated and continuous charitable work."

And so most of the guests will have already enjoyed delicious Easter bunnies and Father Christmases because a big heart has travelled all over the Taunus to collect them.
