Franziskustreff Foundation: the Board of Directors.

The Board of Directors is responsible for ensuring that the foundation fulfils its purpose in accordance with its statutes. This is to ensure, further develop and, above all, stabilise the care of homeless and poor people in the Franziskustreff an Liebfrauen.

Chairman of the Board of the Franziskustreff Foundation

Brother Paul Terwitte

The Franziskustreff and the Bruder Paulus: for many, they are inextricably linked. In fact, I not only have organisational ties to this hospitable place - I also feel closely connected to it. I have been active as an executive board member since 2013. And I wanted to think about making provisions for the future of the Franziskustreff and its foundation in good time. The deadline was 1 July 2023, which is when I handed over my management role to a highly qualified dual leadership team.

The Capuchins still had plans for me. They gave me a good measure again: Living and working for the Capuchins from Munich. The Franziskustreff will not only remain in my heart. I will also remain chairman of the board until the founder, the German Capuchin Province, appoints a new one.

I have been active on the capital market since 1996. At that time, my first professional station after studying business administration in Giessen took me "to Daimler" in Stuttgart in the Group Treasury. And there to the equity trading department. In 2001, I moved to Frankfurt. Here I worked for various securities trading houses, and since 2011 for ICF BANK AG. I have always remained loyal to shares. I still trade them daily on the fully electronic XETRA trading system. With all the ups and downs.
There is always a lot of excitement on the job, because it is impossible to predict how a trading day will end. And what will happen in the course of it. But it's precisely the unpredictable that I like ... Because as a "Gemini" I'm always curious about new things. And it should never be boring. I have been happy to contribute my capital market expertise to the Franziskustreff Foundation since 2020. We carefully invest the funds of our esteemed benefactors that are not immediately used for their intended purpose in securities, i.e. shares and bonds. In this way, we endeavour to further increase our capital. This has been very successful since the foundation was set up.

In my free time, I like to be outdoors, in nature. My favourite place, of course, is at home in the beautiful Allgäu region. Hiking alone with my husband or in our hiking club: In these moments, I find an excellent balance to my often stressful job on the stock exchange. I enjoy the little things here. Flowers, animals, the blue sky, simply the marvellous nature. I can really understand and enjoy creation. I love animals of all kinds. For many years, I have been the godmother of at least three different animals at Frankfurt Zoo. Currently these are the marabou, the prehensile spiny-tailed lemur and the spherical armadillo.
I only have breakfast at the weekend. Then with my husband, well, extensively and in peace and quiet. We have fresh bread rolls from our Allgäu bakery - simply marvellous!

Life is a coming and going. And sometimes a person comes from precisely where another has just gone. Munich, for example, the place where Brother Paulus Terwitte was appointed. That was my last place of work and life before I was appointed rector of the Liebfrauen monastery.
But this city, where I worked in the Isarvorstadt parish association for the past two coronavirus years, is not where I was born. Instead, my biographical foundations are on the same ground as Liebrauen: I'm from Frankfurt, from Schwanheim to be precise. I wanted to be an altar boy there from the age of nine. But there was a lot of pressure there. Back then, it was the Liebfrauen monastery that wrote itself into my biography. Because there I was able to realise my great wish: I was an altar boy there for a good ten years.
I had always wanted to be a priest, but not alone or with a dog by my side. But in the community. So the path led me straight to the Capuchins. My critical and loyal view of the church is typical of me. For me, this means cultivating independent thinking and utilising free spaces in a beneficial way for all people: We here at Liebfrauen are here for everyone who comes. Everyone is welcome, regardless of their baptism certificate or sexual orientation. The welcome applies no matter what life situation people find themselves in. Nobody should feel wrong or out of place here. This also guides me in my work on the board of the Franziskustreff.
